Paolo Ventura was born in Milan in 1968. He began his artistic career at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts. He focused mainly on photography and in the early nineties, he became a fashion photographer collaborating with Marieclaire, Elle and Vogue. After a ten year career in the world of fashion, in the late nineties, he retired from glossy magazines to move to New York. In his Brooklyn studio he started working on a project on the Second World War in Italy: he created scenographies with recycled material, prepared theatrical sets related to the war, with small puppets dressed as soldiers, all in miniature.
